The first five prints of my Versailles Collection, is a brand new series that I intend to continue in the future. I am fortunate to live near the domaine of the Chateau of Versailles, which is west of Paris, and I spend time there regularly. In this series, I have created radiant images with the ethereal presence of the buildings, gardens and visitors, both in the present and perhaps from the past too.
When I open the digital file on my computer the image is invariably all white. The colours appear by a combination of adjustments to the exposure, contrast, highlights or shadows. The image is there, but hidden, just like a film photo that is revealed in a bath of developing chemicals. I do not alter or artificially enhance the original image.
